ED, Insight Delivery P&C

Purpose of Job

Oversees delivery of targeted insights aimed at improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the P&C Claims organization while ensuring that member needs are understood and fulfilled. Serves as liaison between the P&C Claims Organization and P&C Actuary and Analytics, ensuring that Claims’ needs are met relative to the entire data and analytics’ lifecycle.

Responsible for a team that delivers business recommendations based on the development and maintenance of predictive and prescriptive models; performance of text, speech and social media analytics; and performance of non-modeling structured data analytics .

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides executive leadership and guidance in the development, maintenance and application of advanced predictive and prescriptive models to deliver model-driven insights and recommendations in support of P&C Claims’ objectives and strategies.
  • Leads the development, maintenance and application of non-modeling structured data analytics and develops insights and recommendations in support of P&C Claims’ objectives and strategies.
  • Builds and leads a high performing team of analytical employees with a broad range of advanced state-of-the science analytical expertise and high levels of P&C Claims business knowledge through recruiting, training, coaching, performance management, and related managerial activities.
  • Collaborate and influences peers to ensure that P&C Claims’ needs are met across the entire data and analytics lifecycle. 
  • Develops and maintains Data and Analytics Roadmap for P&C Claims.
  • Serves as solution owner for the P&C Claims D&A funnel, providing strategic, fiscal and execution leadership for P&C Claims D&A IT agile teams. 
  • Fosters analytical innovation and promote the sharing of analytics knowledge and best practices


  • Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 4 years of experience in addition to the minimum years of experience required can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a related field.
  • 4+ years in a Leadership position.
  • Analytical, strategic thought leader.
  • Ability to articulate ambiguity into a story to sell the vision.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and coach subordinates.
  • Preferred:
  • Proven experience building and leading a data/analytics team in a Fortune 200 company.
  • Experience in a highly service consumer oriented financial services/consulting environment, with an understanding of insurance products, investment products and/or banking products. 
  • MBA, MMR or higher.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing scorecards for customer experience, including forecasting and goal-setting.
  • Previous military experience. 
  • An understanding and passion for valuing service to USAA’s Members above all else with a goal to help Members protect, enhance, and secure their financial security. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing capabilities and an understanding of how to work within a matrixed organization.
  • Additional Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience delivering insights to improve efficiency and effectiveness of P&C Claims operations.
  • Deep understanding of P&C financials especially the ways P&C Claims operations may impact bottom line.

Demonstrated delivery of insights to improve member satisfaction with P&C Claims processes.
