Employee Relations Advisor I

Purpose of Job

We are currently seeking talented Employee Relations Advisor I for our Plano/Addison, TX facilities.

Collaborates with peer partners and leadership on human resource initiatives to design and develop enterprise and/or CoSA specific programs and practices in achieving the mission. Works directly with line of business management and individual contributors where appropriate to provide solutions covering a wide range of employee relations issues. Performs moderately complex to complex work assignments and problem resolution across multiple human resources functions and/or CoSAs. Is well versed with managing and resolving employee issues with minimal guidance.

Job Requirements

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to influence employee relations practices for assigned CoSA(s).
  • Represents Employee Relations as subject matter expert and may represent USAA, as required, for legal situations.
  • Liaison to Legal for severance management activities.
  • Consults business partners and leaders of assigned CoSA or for strategic enterprise program(s), providing guidance, oversight, and communication on existing employee relations policies.
  • Acts as a resource for escalated issues of an unusual nature.
  • May serve as subject matter expert on broader Human Resources projects (ie, IPM, manager training, etc).
  • Provides manager/learning sessions by business need (HR related topics, performance management, calibration) typically at AVP and above.
  • Provides regulatory awareness/education to management.
  • Provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems.
  • Proactively analyzes and identifies organizational trends and benchmarks industry practices to address employee relation issues, and recommends appropriate action.
  • May be a point of contact to industry organizations for benchmarking purposes.
  • Acquires and applies intermediate to advanced knowledge of relevant human resources discipline(s).
  • Provides insight and guides management on issues and manages client caseload.
  • Identifies opportunities and potential solutions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • 4 or more years of relevant work experience in the employee relations discipline, general business consulting/analysis experience or business management experience to include basic knowledge of relevant employment law
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other software to be used to develop analysis, charts, and/or supporting documentation

  • PHR or SHRM – CP certification
  • Experience coaching/consulting/influencing all levels of employees to include executive management
  • Experience conducting inquiries / investigations (i.e., EEOC, Title VII, etc.,)
  • Proven ability to effectively manage high-volume casework
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ability to create HR job aids regarding labor laws and policies to mitigate risk
  • Experience facilitating training
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral, along with a strong acumen in Microsoft Office tools
