We are currently seeking talented Mortgage Loan Officers for our Tampa, Florida (Crosstown) campus. The start date for this position is January 7, 2019.

Job Requirements


As an Mortgage Loan Officer for USAA, you will provide member on boarding, servicing and/or facilitation of mortgage product sales through various channels (e.g., phone, mail, e-mail, internet). Deepens member relationships through needs assessment and solution offerings from USAA products and services. The Loan Officer will manage a loan queue and contact members to collect required documentation and acts as a liaison between Processing, Underwriting, and members to effectively close loans


  • Converts pre-qualifications and applications for the following mortgage products: VA/Conventional both Purchase and Refinance, and FHA.
  • Under maximum supervision, serves as a liaison by gathering information and closing on product sales for a suite of mortgage member products demonstrating expert skills and knowledge of USAA products and benefits.
  • Identifies member needs and provides superior advice using multiple products that facilitates the member's financial security.
  • Empathizes with members and provides integrated solutions to make it easy for members to acquire multiple USAA products.
  • Responds to member and third party phone calls to keep appropriate parties informed of loan status and meets service level objectives for completing mortgage applications.
  • Effectively manage an applicant pipeline using organizational and multitasking skills
  • Initiates follow-up phone calls to applicants and third parties to obtain necessary loan documentation, income documentation and/or collateral information.
  • Follows established procedures and ensure compliance to all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyzes financial and credit data to determine the acceptability of loan risk in support of bank, investors and regulatory policies.


  • Full schedule availability is needed (Monday) - (Friday), 8:00am-4:30pm for 7 weeks.
  • You must successfully complete a training program. USAA training programs include classroom instruction, computer-based lessons, and instructor-led activities with systems simulations.
  • Employees attending training are expected to meet USAA's established standards for performance, attendance and conduct.


  • Availability to work Sunday - Saturday between the hours of 8:00am - 800pm
  • A 30 percent Shift Premium pay would apply to work hours scheduled after 6pm, Mon-Fri & weekends.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Up to 1 year of sales experience.


  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing or related field.
  • Six months of RE lending experience (RE originations, RE loan processing, closing or underwriting RE loans, or a combination of) AND sales experience.
  • Has past experience of proactively establishing, developing, and maintaining relationships with new home builders and or Real Estate Agents.
  • Previous experience with market trends and or the real estate market.
  • Familiar with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and or Ginnie Mae investor guidelines

The NMLSR will require individuals to provide identification information, financial services related employment history, and disclose certain criminal, civil judicial or regulatory/licensing actions that have been brought against them. It also requires that they be fingerprinted for an FBI background check.
