Remediation Advisor I

Purpose of Job

We are currently seeking talented Remediation Advisor I for our Remote.

Develops, implements, and maintains bank underwriting programs, policies, and processes. Ensures the relevance of underwriting programs and policies through research, analysis and implementation of changes. Serves as a technical resource to underwriting teams and other operational areas.

Job Requirements

  • With minimal oversight develops recommendations and coordinates with appropriate Counsel and Enterprise Compliance on review of laws and regulations for real estate business impact.
  • Evaluates and makes appropriate risk level decisions; provides advice/direction on transactional exceptions requests while maintaining compliance with legal, investor, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Provide analytical support by monitoring and evaluating current investor guide lines and internal operating procedures/processes and makes recommendations that would influence change and meet salability goals to team senior for further evaluation and consideration.
  • Provide real estate legal and statutory research and serves in an advisory capacity as a technical resource to Bank Fulfillment, Secondary Marketing teams, and internal and other operational areas on non- transactional inquiries.
  • Conducts legal, statutory and investor research and provide innovative solutions to resolve potential salability issues prior to the loan closing.
  • Serves as a resource to less experienced team members on escalated issues of a routine nature.
  • Utilizes strong leadership skills in interacting with counsel, Enterprise Compliance, customers or team members.
  • Builds processes and relationships that facilitate productive teamwork.
  • Identifies outstanding compliance issues within the specific business unit and oversees proper implementation of business requirements.
  • Gathers information, analyzes data trends, identifies root cause(s), and provides information to the business.
  • Serves as the business subject matter expert to ensure documents, processes or product initiatives comply with regulatory and legal requirements and enterprise policy.
  • Provides specific business knowledge and/or skills expertise for work assignments.
  • Partners with various business partners at the COSA and enterprise level on specific requests and/or legal requirements, and/or interpretations, as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a Degree.
  • 4 or more years financial underwriting experience.
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of banking products.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree OR 6 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a Degree.
  • 10 or more years financial underwriting experience.
  • Proficient and effective written and oral communication skills.   
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of Secondary Marketing, to include but limited to, Mortgage Backed Securities and Government Sponsored Enterprise (GSE).
  • Proficient knowledge of SharePoint to include reporting and trend analysis.
  • Proficient knowledge of First Mortgage, Home Equity Line of Credit, to include both open and closed line of credit.
  • Proficient knowledge of Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and VA products and guidelines from a regulatory and compliance standpoint.
  • Proficient knowledge of Real Estate title insurance policy, to include but not limited to, short title, title commitments both fee simple and leasehold, final title policies, title endorsements, Release of Liens, Easements & Encroachments, Right of Redemption, and Trust.
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of Lawsuits, Counter Suits, Summons, Subpoenas, Affidavits, Mortgage Agreements.
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of Leasehold Agreement, Covenants Conditions & Restrictions, Right of First Refusal.
