Business Applications Analyst I - Bank Security

Purpose of Job

We are currently seeking talented Business Applications Analyst I - Bank Security for our San Antonio, TX facility.

Provides proficient analytical, business, and technical knowledge related to specific business functions, processes, and applications. Works independently to support business analytics and decision-making processes.

Job Requirements

  • Analyzes business and technical information and provides analytical support to business decisions making.
  • Collaborates with internal customers to understand business needs and opportunities.
  • Provides intermediate to complex analysis, supporting the planning and implementation of systems and upgrades, and process changes.
  • Coordinates, prepares, and delivers training to customers and peers that cover new or upgraded applications and processes.
  • Leads/participates in development and/or maintenance of business analytics and decision support solutions.
  • Performs and may coordinate business and application support.
  • Analyzes discrepancies and system failures.
  • Facilitates and performs resolution activities to minimize business impact and avoid future exposure.
  • Informs team leadership and business partners of business implications associated with those events and develops recommendations to mitigate future impact.
  • Advises customers on matters related to overall business analytics and decision support solutions.
  • Maintains proficient understanding of business processes, supporting applications, and strategic direction.
  • Collaborates and exchanges information with team members, customers, and information services to ensure dependencies, risks, and opportunities are identified.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree).
  • 4 or more years progressive operational systems or data support experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Successful completion of an analyst assessment may be required.

  • This role will support and enforce all applications role and entitlement security for our core banking applications (e.g. Credit Card, Deposits, Consumer Lending and Mortgage applications).  Strong understanding of and experience with industry Identity Access Management practices and procedures would be very helpful.
  • Experience with role management in an Identity Access Management platform such as Oracle Identity Access Manager or Microsoft Active Directory is a plus.
  • Experience working, with minimal supervision, at analyzing discrepancies and system failures for departmental system issues, facilitating and performing resolution activities to minimize business impact and avoid future exposure, informing team, leadership and business partners of business implications associated with those events and developing recommendations to mitigate future impact.
  • Possesses expert understanding of 3-4 Execution Excellence Taxonomy processes or sub-processes and their supporting application(s) and has an effective understanding of at least three additional process or sub-process. 
  • Has, with minimal supervision, participated in the end-to-end AGILE development cycle including BRP sessions, stand-ups, demos and other meetings as required and performed validation of business stories, QA testing, and assessment of the operational readiness of AGILE implementations with no supervision.
  • Has, with minimal supervision, analyzed Agile EPICS, Features, Stories and tasks to ensure effort is aligned with organizational strategic goals.
  • The BAA is regarded as a software/application expert to liaison between operational business units, agile development work streams, process engineering professionals, I/T support teams and risk/legal/compliance partners in delivering, enhancing and maintaining the software/applications which support our products and experiences to our membership and to our Member Service Representatives (MSR’s).  Experience working with SDLC frameworks is helpful.
  • Experiencing working with and influencing key executive and non-executive stakeholders (business and technology) -attending meetings (ex. IT, EMM, Corporate Data, Channel Management, Fraud, etc.) , suggesting value added topics, and presenting when applicable.   Should be a key influencer.
  • This role will cover all non-core bank, enterprise applications that impact bank operations. Understanding of Documents systems, Workflow Management systems, Enterprise Data systems or Messaging systems would be helpful
  • Experience defining, developing and providing software/application information, expertise and analysis to drive progress and influence decision-making in support of both operational and development project areas. 
  • Other skills important to this role include financial services business expertise and analytics, the use of proven project management / Agile methodologies, operations management experience, process management and specific software/application knowledge.
  • Possess a positive, can do, solutions focused mindset.
