The Opportunity

As a dedicated P&C Product Management Manager for the Personal Lines State Management team, you will support the achievement of property and casualty (P&C) insurance profit and growth targets in assigned state(s) or geographic region. Assists in development of strategic vision and tactical plans which profitably expand USAAs product line market share. Focuses on state-specific competitive and financial critical metrics to anticipate and react to potential trends. Identifies chances to create regional impacts across P&C, which drive standard methodologies and innovation across the organization.

This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

What you'll do:

  • Works with large data sets to develop analytical insights and analyzes state-specific P&L and marketing strategy and the impact of marketing investments.
  • Answers financial and customer-related questions from key team members using multiple data sources including SAS, SQL, Tableau, R, etc.
  • Collaborates with internal team member’s partners to develop insights to develop and complete multi-year state strategy. Engages with external regulators to bring strategic actions to market.
  • Analyzes data with internal partners, such as pricing, UW, and claims, to identify growth opportunities, build a 360-degree view of the membership and present key findings.
  • Builds reports using data tools to supervise business performance and communicate results.
  • Identifies emerging themes, internal and external trends to improve performance and minimize risk.
  • Assists with the evaluation of product performance metrics and competitor actions to help facilitate decision making at regional/ countrywide level.
  • Partners with Government & Industry Relations, Attorney, and Compliance Advisor to manage relationship with local regulatory agencies and industry organizations.
  • Serves as a resource to team members by providing mentorship and training on processes and procedures in support of product line initiatives.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are optimally identified, measured, supervised, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Risk Management, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related discipline; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 6 years of relevant product or program management experience analyzing data and developing recommendation, or an advanced degree in Business, with 4 years of product or program management experience. 
  • 3 years of P&C experience.
  • Working experience in creating product briefings and presenting to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively conducting product analysis & gain an in depth understanding of market dynamics including competitor underwriting initiatives and rate level analysis.
  • Competent knowledge of applicable product related regulations, and risk and compliance requirements.

What sets you apart:

  • 4 or more years of Property & Casualty experience, particularly in one or more key functions (e.g., Product Management, Pricing, Underwriting, Finance, etc.).
  • Confirmed sophisticated data analytical experience and the ability to demonstrate the skills for pulling data as well as analyze trends to make recommendations to leadership.
  • Proficient knowledge of SAS, SQL, Tableau, or similar software.
  • Highly effective communication and salesmanship skills leverages to guide, mentor, and influence business improvement.
  • Demonstrated Bias for Action in an environment of ambiguity.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $99,160.00 - $189,530.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
