Meet Jolisa, a Bank Sales and Service Contact Center Representative I, who transitioned from military service to a meaningful career at USAA. With nearly three years of experience, Jolisa combines her military background with her passion for helping members navigate their financial needs.

Military Service to Member Service

  • A foundation in the US Army

    Before joining USAA, Jolisa served in the U.S. Army, where she developed strong leadership, discipline, and problem-solving skills. Her military experience laid the foundation for a career centered on service, teamwork, and supporting others.

  • Starting strong in deposit servicing 

    Jolisa began her USAA journey in deposit servicing, assisting members with their banking needs over the phone. This role deepened her knowledge of financial products and strengthened her ability to provide personalized support.

  • Expertise in Credit Cards & Wires

    Driven to grow, Jolisa became cross-trained in credit cards, wire transfers, and international wires. This experience enhanced her financial expertise and equipped her to handle complex transactions.

  • Chat Servicing & Future Growth

    In 2024, Jolisa moved to chat servicing, adapting her skills to assist multiple members simultaneously in a digital space. With USAA’s support, she continues to explore new opportunities for professional growth.

Q&A with Jolisa

Q: What does a typical day look like for you at USAA?
A: My day begins with logging into my system, checking emails, and reviewing any updates. As a chat servicing representative, I assist members with their banking needs, often handling two members at a time. My days are consistently busy, ensuring our service members receive the support they need for their financial well-being.

Q: Why did you choose USAA?
A: USAA’s deep connection to the military resonated with me. As a veteran, I wanted to work for a company that understands and values the military community. USAA’s core values align closely with those of the military, making it the perfect fit for me.

Q: Can you share a moment when you felt especially proud of your impact?
A: One of my proudest moments was being featured in a campaign to help veterans transition from military to civilian careers. Transitioning can be challenging, and being able to share insights and offer guidance to fellow veterans was incredibly rewarding.

Q: What skills have you developed at USAA?
A: I’ve strengthened my empathy, active listening, and time management skills. Understanding our members' unique challenges has taught me how to provide personalized, meaningful support.

Q: What’s your favorite part about working at USAA?
A: I love two things most: First, being able to support service members with their financial needs—I know firsthand how crucial financial stability is in the military. Second, USAA provides incredible growth opportunities, allowing me to expand my skills, take on new challenges, and contribute beyond my role.
