The Opportunity

Our Audit Associate works within defined guidelines and framework, performs basic technology and information/cyber security (IT/IS) audits and other job-related assignments in support of risk-based assurance and advisory engagements in the field of information technology. Adheres to the Institute of Internal Auditors' International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards) and Code of Ethics.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Tampa, FL, or Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Executes assigned IT IS audit test steps timely and professionally with guidance and support from the IT/IS Auditor-in-Charge (AIC)/senior auditors in support of the annual audit plan and/or audit priorities.

  • Builds knowledge and executes basic audit documentation techniques, accountable for own work paper documentation within quality standards, timely and accurately. Verifies the information technology and security resources align with business objectives.

  • Develops an understanding on how to gather and analyze data specific to the technology and cybersecurity policies, rules, and regulations to perform assigned tasks.

  • Attends and participates in team audit activities such as planning and scoping for the business of IT IS, understanding/walkthroughs, review of risk assessment and testing for assigned areas of responsibility and demonstrates critical thinking ability and begins early-stage development of expertise within IT/IS.

  • Assists in updating the engagement level IT/IS risk & control matrix with guidance and support from AIC.

  • May communicate findings with the IT/IS AIC and/or team members.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree; four additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • Up to 2 years of audit experience.

  • Experience delivering accurate and timely documentation of work requests.

  • Experience gathering and analyzing data for review and analysis.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking in a working environment.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and written in a business environment. 

  • Experience utilizing technology to complete work assignments.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $59,290 - $106,230. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
