The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Instructional Designer II (Mid Level).

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in our Phoenix, AZ; San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Colorado Springs, CO or Tampa, FL offices. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

As a dedicated Instructional Designer II (Mid Level) you will partners with business leaders and Learning Performance Consultants to gather and validate learning requirements (performance requirements, measures of success, terms, and conditions). You will performs analyses, design, and develop learning curriculum to improve performance of USAA employees. You’ll assess the learning outcomes that need to be achieved, understand the performance expectations and gaps, and assist in deriving the appropriate learning solution.

  • Designs and develops interactive facilitator-led and online content that meets the learning needs of the business.
  • Organizes course content to produce curriculum that meets learning needs of the business.
  • Develops and manages timelines and milestones.
  • Ensures consistency, quality, and appropriate use of course content guidelines.
  • Participates in the creation of learning objectives, design documents and learning experiences to meet business requirements.
  • Supports the development of tools and processes that measure effectiveness of curriculum solutions and learner performance to ensure solutions meet employee skill development requirements.
  • Continues to develop an understanding of the business, its products, and processes to design and develop learning curriculum to improve performance of USAA employees.
  • Collaborates with Learning Performance Consultants (LPC) to gather information and provide design recommendations.
  • Resolves issues and identifies appropriate issues for escalation.
  • Partners  with contract designer to ensure deliverables are aligned with business requests.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree (6 years of experience in lieu of a degree).
  • 2 years progressive work experience in instructional design to include training industry experience and working knowledge of instructional design tools and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, project management skills, multi-tasking, and project flexibility.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to plan, prioritize, monitor, and respond to changes quickly.
  • Experience with instructional authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline 360 and/or Adobe Suite.

What sets you apart:

  • Four years of relevant project management experience.
  • Experience using E-Learning tools, including: Adobe Creative Cloud, Storyline, and Captivate
  • Four years of experience developing interactive courseware that is self-paced, instructor-led, web-based training, and simulations.
  • Financial Services experience.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

The salary range for this role is $62,470-$111,940.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
