The Opportunity
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: Phoenix, AZ, San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Provides second-line independent oversight, effective challenge, and guidance regarding business products, services, and processes through a risk and compliance framework to ensure they are driven in accordance with regulatory requirements and USAA’s policies and procedures. Responsible for providing compliance and risk management support for a line of business or staff agency in key risk identification, measurement, monitoring, control and reporting, and the understanding and management of risk through appropriate practices and processes to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels.
What you'll do:
- Partners with key collaborators in the business to identify, assess, aggregate and document operational and compliance risks and controls, including operational and compliance risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, laws, regulations, and third-party operations using maturing knowledge.
- Applies maturing knowledge of the business, its products, and processes, to identify, work, and escalate operational risk and compliance issues.
- Supports and contributes to the implementation of new risk and compliance policies, practices, and solutions to ensure comprehensive understanding and management of operational and compliance risks according to industry standard methodology.
- Gathers information, analyzes data trends, and produces analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand business objectives and influence solution strategies.
- Assists in the formulation of stress test plans for a line of business or the enterprise including the evaluation of results and framing of contingency plans in partnership with key business collaborators.
- Supports processes that focus on enhancing strategies, tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report on operational and compliance risks.
- Contributes in cross-functional teams to identify, assess, aggregate, and mitigate current and emerging risk.
- Supports and executes processes to measure, monitor, and report on operational and compliance risks.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- 2 years proven experience in the financial services or insurance industry or specialized technical fields directly related to the role.
- Knowledge of risk and/or compliance management principles, tools, and applicable systems
- Awareness and ability to apply risk and compliance laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations.
- Ability to work with internal and external partners in a highly collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques.
- Experience identifying potential concerns and recommending effective solutions.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.
What sets you apart:
- Two or more years of validated experience implementing risk or compliance governance and frameworks
- Clear understanding Third Party Risk Lifecycle (Planning, Due Diligence, Contracting, Ongoing Monitoring and Termination)
- Experience conducting QA testing to include drafting and implementing test scripts
- Understanding of sampling processes
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner [optional]

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $63,590 - $121,530.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
