The Opportunity
As a dedicated Information Governance Advisor II within P&C, you will provide governance, quality, integrity and timeliness of operational data for the enterprise. Establish and enforce enterprise data policies, standards, practices and processes according to best practices. Monitor the use of data to ensure careful control and effective use to achieve enterprise objectives. Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of information and data governance initiatives.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Gather information, analyzes data trends, and provides information and recommendation to peers and the business stakeholders across a single data domain and/or information governance standard.
- Participate in the development and implementation of business solutions as a team resource.
- Contribute to development of the mission, goals, critical success factors, principles, policies for data and information governance.
- Support current assessment of information governance process and tools.
- Partner with internal groups and/or vendors to maintain complete and accurate meta data information using querying and other system tools to produce required reports.
- Analyze and effectively resolves problems and issues.
- Resolve gaps in adherence to polices and standards and identifies appropriate issues and for escalation.
- Recognize opportunities and provides recommendations to improve governance of information and data.
- Perform moderately complex work assignments and problem resolution within a single system, process, or channel.
- Acquire and applies maturing knowledge of Information Governance and data management to the business, channels, and their applications and processes for a single data domain.
- Collaborate with peers and leadership to execute information governance and data management practices and processes.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information Studies, Risk, Audit, Information Technology or a related technical field; OR 4 years of related experience in information governance, information management or information architecture (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 2 years of experience in Information or Data related practices to include: information governance, information management, information architecture, IT, Risk, Audit, analysis and reporting; or Advanced degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information Studies, Risk, Audit, Information Technology or a related technical field.
- Knowledge and application of Information Governance framework and policies.
- Experience solving data issues and analyzing solutions.
What sets you apart:
- Experience in the P&C Insurance industry
- Experience in building reports and presenting to key stakeholders
- Experience in Information/Data Governance domains like metadata management, Data quality, Sensitive data management, Retention, Master and Reference Data
- Experience working with external regulators and internal audit to evidence compliance with internal standards and policies as well as external laws and regulations
- Experience in Microsoft Excel to include pivot tables, charting, conditional formatting, filtering techniques, exporting, importing, and data validation
- Experience in wiki arrangement and software features with strong writing and editing abilities and a knack for organizing information
- Experience in Microsoft SharePoint lists and libraries to include creating and customizing, managing content, and collaboration
- Experience with Metadata and Data quality tools like Alation and Big Eye
- Experience with using AI algorithms to classify Sensitive Data, Predictive Analytics for Risk Management of Data, Data Discovery and Cataloging, Regulatory Compliance Automation and other use cases related to Data Management, resulting in cost reduction, strategic insights, enhanced compliance and improved data quality
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $69,920 - $133,620.
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
