The Opportunity

As a dedicated Compensation Analyst (Intermediate Level), you will be responsible for the implementation and administration of compensation programs, practices and policies. Analyzes and utilizes compensation data for use in a wide variety of applications such as market pricing, salary range development, ad-hoc analysis, evaluation of compensation programs, proactive analysis/recommendations, and more. Ensures alignment with the total rewards philosophy and HR strategy.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week.

This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Supports the implementation and administration of compensation programs such as merit, pay range development, geographic differential program, competitive market adjustments, etc. as well as practices and policies.

  • Research organizational trends, compensation market data, and industry best practices in order to conduct analysis and put forward recommendations.

  • Assists with the design, development and assessment of compensation initiatives as needed.

  • Act as internal advisors and partner to Compensation Advisory (business facing) team, Incentive Compensation team and Executive Compensation team.

  • Uses compensation market data to price jobs and put forward recommendations.

  • Participates in compensation surveys and supports the administrations of survey data in market pricing tool (PayFactors).

  • Assists with the creation of Tableau dashboards and other tools used in support of compensation analysis and decision making.

  • Oversees data entry of compensation related information to appropriate databases and system resources, including HRIS and Case/Knowledge Management System.

  • Ensures accuracy and quality of data, analysis and work products produced.

  • Conducts training to educate management and employees on compensation-related programs, practices and policies, ensuring compliance with legal standards and strategic alignment.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 2 or more years relevant work experience in compensation discipline, or related experience in HR, Finance, or business sales operations to include general business consulting/analysis experience or business management experience, and developing knowledge of relevant compensation and/or HR laws.

  • Developing knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other software to be used to develop analysis, charts, and/or supporting documentation.

  • Knowledge of federal laws, rules, and regulations to include:

Federal and state fair employment practices laws including Equal Pay Acts and other nondiscrimination laws; Federal contractor and affirmative action laws and regulations such as Executive Order 11246; FLSA. If supporting variable pay program: REG Z, SafeAct; If supporting Executive Rewards programs: knowledge of Interagency Guidance on Sound Compensation Policies (75 FR 36395) and Internal Revenue Code requirements applicable to executive compensation.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience using compensation surveys to market price jobs with a market pricing tool.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience using tools such as Excel and Tableau (or other data visualization tool) to analyze, present, and influence using data.

  • History of supporting a merit cycle from start to finish.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $63,590.00 - $121,530.00.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
