The Opportunity
As a dedicated Financial Analyst Lead, you will be responsible for leading the financial management and oversight for your assigned line of business, including leading though complex business problem solving, financial budgeting and forecasting, ad hoc analysis and financial modeling related to business initiatives. You will coordinate and communicate with key business partners at all levels to provide advanced analytics and insights around key business drivers. You will create and present executive level communications for key stakeholders. You will lead and mentor other analysts and will assist leadership in managing tasks and the day-to-day operations of the team. You will ensure all activities are completed within regulatory and compliance guidelines.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.
What you'll do:
- Leads, develops, and motivates the team to provide advanced analytics and insights around key business drivers.
- Anticipates opportunities to take on the most sophisticated and / or outstanding business problems, providing proactive financial solutions with coordinated and forward-looking perspectives to enable better decision making by senior management.
- Consistently interacts with senior management becoming their trusted advisor on all financial issues.
- Makes recommendations to solve short-term, as well as strategic financial business problems.
- Teaches and mentors others about sophisticated financial processes, business drivers and systems ensuring information sharing and knowledge transfer.
- Reviews analysts work and assists management in assigning tasks and handling workflow.
- Leads initiatives to develop an integrated enterprise planning process from multiple companies and/or staff agency processes and technologies.
- Directs analyses and guides the development, enhancement, and implementation of critical processes, programs, and technologies.
- Anticipates opportunities and potential solutions, leads cross-functional teams through the problem resolution process, and advises senior management on issues.
- Acquires and applies experienced knowledge of the business, its products and processes.
- Performs complex and often unique work assignments and problem resolution across multiple systems, functions, or processes.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics; OR a related field 4 additional years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 8 years financial/accounting analysis experience to include 2 years leading strategic financial/accounting opportunities. OR Advanced degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, progress towards a CPA or CFA designation, and 6 years of financial / accounting analysis experience to include 1 year leading strategic financial/accounting opportunities.
- Subject-matter-expert knowledge of data analysis and relevant technical accounting/finance foresight required.
- Strong level of eye for business in the areas of the financial services operations, finance/accounting industry practices and emerging trends required.
- Experience presenting complex financial/accounting topics to a broad range of audiences.
- Knowledge of using financial/accounting technologies and proposing recommendations for improvements.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Excel for significant financial data analysis and reporting.
- Experience in the application and adherence to financial regulations and compliance.
- Solid knowledge of producing financial reports and providing recommendations based on data.
- Clear understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
What sets you apart:
- 4+ years of Property and Casualty business or finance experience, to include GAAP and STAT reporting.
- Previous experience and knowledge of P&L (profit and loss) oversight and management, including month-end close, budgeting and forecasting.
- Robust knowledge of P&L (Profit and Loss) Oversight and Management.
- Solid leadership and mentoring knowledge to develop and spearhead working relationships with Executive Management.
- Financial analysis and reporting expertise with budgeting and forecasting using Excel & PowerPoint to report operating results.
- Shown ability to develop, communicate and present findings to executive level leadership.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $127,310.00 - $243,340.00.
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
