The Opportunity

As a Strategy Consultant on the Enterprise Strategy team, you will support decision-making by USAA’s leadership on high-level strategy questions that shape the future of the organization and how we fulfill our mission. The team’s work covers both strategic planning and targeted strategy engagements on high-impact topics. You will work collaboratively with partners across USAA to develop and communicate strategy.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position will be based in the following location: San Antonio TX.

What you'll do:

  • Support internal consulting projects & initiatives: Understand the strategic opportunities and issues faced by the organization. Design workplans, conduct targeted research, and collect data from various internal and external sources. Perform high-impact analysis, aiding in evaluating and designing business solutions. Support the creation of compelling storylines that clearly articulate findings, insights, and recommendations.
  • Monitor and assess external trends: Conduct industry and competitive research to identify potential strategic opportunities and threats. Communicate insights and support the development of recommendations to leadership.
  • Support strategic planning: Support the development and communication of the organization’s three-year strategic plan.
  • Assist with strategy communication and alignment: Contribute to communicating the organization’s strategy to senior management, employees, and other stakeholders to ensure that all levels of the organization are aligned with and working towards the same goals. Work collaboratively with Strategy Engagement Directors to support the design, development, and facilitation of strategy off-sites.
  • Monitor and report on progress: Assist with monitoring the progress of the organization’s strategic initiatives and reporting on results to senior management and other stakeholders, while ensuring risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Business, Engineering or Science discipline; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years of business experience demonstrating proficiency in strategy consulting, corporate or business unit strategy or relevant work experience; or an Advanced Degree in Business or STEM and 2 years business experience demonstrating proficiency in strategy consulting, corporate or business unit strategy or relevant work experience.
  • Proficient knowledge in project management.
  • Experience in influencing business decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong research, analytical, and written and oral communication skills.

What sets you apart:

  • MBA or other advanced degree.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $81,770 - $156,290.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
