The Opportunity

As a dedicated Military Talent Program Advisor Lead for our Military Talent Acquisition Partnership team, you will serve as a strategic partner to design, develop, and implement innovative talent solutions, initiatives, programs, processes and tools supporting transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses for career opportunities within the organization. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop veteran hiring initiatives and ensure a smooth integration of military talent into the enterprise. Provides guidance, resources, and ongoing support to foster retention and professional development of military-affiliated employees.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in the following locations: San Antonio TX, Plano TX, Tampa FL, Charlotte NC, Phoenix AZ or Colorado Springs CO.

What you'll do:

  • Participates in the design, development, and implementation of enterprise wide or Company or Staff Agency (COSA) specific military and military-affiliated talent programs and/or solutions. Ensures appropriate participation of business and/or Human Resources partners to deliver established programs and/or initiatives.
  • Executes enterprise level talent planning to include military recruitment strategies by identifying key pipelines, and engaging with transition assistance programs, military and military affiliated partnerships, and veterans’ organizations.
  • Serves as a military talent programs consultant to CoSA or enterprise program(s), providing guidance, oversight, and communication on talent programs strategies.
  • Builds and maintains strong partnerships with internal hiring managers and stakeholders to educate on the value of military experience and its alignment to business needs.
  • Coordinates and participates in outreach efforts to build brand awareness and engage with the military community.
  • Analyzes military and military affiliated hiring metrics to evaluate the success of programs, providing regular reporting to stakeholders and recommends strategy adjustments to leadership on improvements or new initiatives based on data and feedback.
  • Participates in the design of integration programs tailored to military hires for the transition to civilian work culture and development of resources promoting retention.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 or more years of relevant experience in staffing/recruiting, consulting/analysis, or business operations management, and advanced knowledge of relevant employment laws with at least 3 years’ experience focused on military or veteran recruitment or advocacy.
  • Experience must include at least 2 years of project/program development and management.
  • Knowledge of military culture and veteran experiences to create inclusive and supportive corporate environments for military talent.
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office products and other software to support relevant industry/business data analysis.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience with building integration programs for military hires promoting role integration and retention.
  • Experience building strategic partnerships with military sources, transition assistance programs, and veteran organizations to attract highly qualified candidates. (ie HOH, RecruitMilitary, SkillBridge, FourBlock).
  • High acumen in utilizing hiring metrics data to evaluate the success of programs to inform and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Experience with executive stakeholder management and building trusting relationships across cross-functional teams.
  • Planning, organizing, and attending career fairs—both military-focused and general industry events.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $127,310 - $243,340

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
